Gutter Cleaning Duclos

Gutter cleaning in Duclos is essential maintenance that most homeowners delay until a problem becomes urgent. This case study shows how one property owner faced that reality and how GlassWing Window Cleaning resolved it.

The Problem: A Home's Silent Water Damage

A Duclos homeowner noticed water pooling along the foundation during spring rains. The gutters-those channels running along your roofline that collect and direct rainwater away from your home-were completely clogged with leaves, twigs, and years of accumulated debris. Because water couldn't flow freely through the gutters, it spilled over the edges, saturated the soil around the foundation, and began seeping into the basement.

This is not uncommon in Duclos, where mature trees surround many properties. The root cause was simple: gutters had not been professionally cleaned in over two years. Over time, organic material builds up, water cannot drain, and the weight of wet debris puts stress on the gutter system itself. What looked like a cosmetic issue from the ground had become a structural risk.

The homeowner faced a choice: attempt a risky DIY cleaning from a ladder, or call a professional. Given the height of the home and the volume of debris, they contacted GlassWing Window Cleaning.

Gutter Cleaning Duclos: The Approach

GlassWing Window Cleaning arrived with a systematic plan. Their team began by inspecting the entire gutter system-not just the visible parts, but downspouts, corners, and fascia boards where water damage often hides. They found:

• Nearly three inches of compacted leaf matter in sections of the gutters
• A downspout completely blocked by a bird's nest and silt buildup
• Sections of gutter pulling away from the roofline due to the weight of wet debris
• Early signs of rust where water had pooled and stagnated

Rather than simply scooping out debris and leaving, GlassWing's approach included thorough flushing using water-conservation techniques-another reflection of their commitment to responsible practices. They used biodegradable cleaner where algae or mineral buildup was present, ensuring the gutters would flow freely without harming the surrounding landscape or Duclos's local waterways.

The team also inspected the fascia boards and trim for moisture damage, cleaned the downspout extensions to ensure water directed away from the foundation, and provided the homeowner with clear photos showing the before and after condition.

The Result: Prevention and Peace of Mind

After GlassWing completed the work, water flowed cleanly from the gutters into the downspouts and away from the foundation. The pooling issue stopped immediately. Within a few weeks as the soil dried out, the homeowner noticed no new seepage in the basement.

Beyond the immediate fix, this homeowner learned a valuable lesson: professional gutter cleaning in Duclos is not a luxury but preventive maintenance. Because gutters work year-round and Duclos receives significant seasonal debris from its tree canopy, GlassWing recommended cleaning twice per year-spring and fall. This schedule prevents the buildup that leads to foundation problems, gutter sagging, and water damage.

The cost of two annual cleanings is far less than foundation repair or basement waterproofing. GlassWing Window Cleaning brings this kind of forward-thinking approach to every property they service across the Ottawa region.
